Wedding Countdown
Print out this list to check off as you go!

18-12 Months Before o Announce your engagement
o Arrange for all the parents to meet, if they 
       haven’t already
o Set a date (have a backup in case everything 
       is booked)
o Set and go over the budget (include everyone 
       who will be paying)
o Interview wedding planners - if using one
o Pick the ceremony site and visit the officiant
o Work on a guest list with parents
o Visit reception sites and reserve one
6-9 Months Before o Choose your wedding party
o Choose a caterer
o Enroll in a bridal gift registry
o Buy your gown & accessories
o Shop for attendants’ dresses
o Hire a florist
o Book a photographer/videographer
o Choose a band or DJ
4-6 Months Before o Order wedding invitations, R.S.V.P. and 
       thank-you cards and envelopes
o Shop and order the cake
o Arrange for out-of-town accommodation 
      (tell hotel if you have a large group and 
       you could receive a lower rate)
o Complete the wedding list
2-4 Months Before o Contact the county clerk’s office for marriage 
       license and requirements
o Order tuxedos
o Get blood tests if necessary
o Make honeymoon reservations (don’t forget 
      about passports and visas)
o Decide on menu with caterer or hall manager
o Shop for wedding bands
o Finalize honeymoon plans
o Visit party rental shops for tables, chairs, 
      decorations, etc . . .
4-8 Weeks Before o Mail invitations eight weeks prior to wedding 
       date
o Do a hair and makeup trial run with the veil
o Make appointment for hair and makeup for the 
      morning of  the wedding
o Update insurance information with fiancι from 
      single to married status
2-3 Weeks Before o Decide seating for dinner
o Confirm reservations with photographer, 
       florist, etc.
o Call in dinner count
o Have a final dress fitting
1 Week Prior o Schedule haircut for groom
o Place fees in envelopes for organist, minister 
       and give to best man
o Designate a trustworthy friend to bring any 
       heirlooms to and from the reception
o Get a manicure, pedicure, facial and or a 
       massage
o Pack for the honeymoon – arrange for 
       someone to bring luggage and going away 
       outfits to the hall
The Day Before o Greet out-of-town guests
o De-stress: go to the gym, take a walk, go to 
      the movies with fiancι
o Enjoy the wedding rehearsal and dinner!
